| What is the difference between TaeKwonDo and other martial arts like Karate? |
The different martial arts all originated in different countries thousands of years ago, as forms of self-defense. Karate comes from Japan and Kung Fu from China. TaeKwonDo is native to Korea. In terms of techniques, TaeKwonDo is known as the kicking art and emphasizes kicks more than other martial arts. it is ideal for improving balance, flexibility, coordination and endurance. Besides the physical benefits many people practice TaeKwonDo to improve self-confidence and to gain valuable discipline. In addition, TaeKwonDo is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and is the only of these martial arts that is a sport in the Olympic Games. Currently more people study the art of TaeKwonDo than all other forms of martial arts combined. |
| What types of classes/programs are offered? |
At Master Kim's TaeKwonDo Institute we offer specialized classes for children, adults and families. Each type of class has been designed to provide the skills that students desire most. Children classes are broken up into beginner, intermediate and advanced. They are known to improve focus, self-confidence and coordination. Adult classes teach self-defense, self-esteem and provide a great workout. Our unique family class offers a mix of benefits plus the opportunity for parents and children to share goals and train side by side.
We also offer special programs. Our After School Martial Arts Program is a wonderful alternative to after school care. Children are transported to our facility after school. They gain the benefits of our taekwondo program every day after school. Parents' may pick up as late as 6:00 to coincide with their work schedule.
Don't forget about our Special Camps. Our Summer Camp is fun as well as educational. Daily taekwondo classes, indoor/outdoor activities, field trips are just some of the activities during Summer Camp. On school holidays and recess' we always offer fun full day camps. |

Definitely! In fact many families are finding TaeKwonDo to be the perfect family activity, combining an exciting workout with a new learning experience. At Master Kim's TaeKwonDo Institute you have your choice of separately attending a children's or adults' class or coming together as a group to our family class. | At what age can children start? |
Children may begin at 3 years old. Children under 5, will be placed in our Tiny Tigers Program. This will give them a chance to participate in Taekwondo with children of similar size and ability. Once a child reaches 5 years of age, he/she should be ready for our regular 'Kids' class. |
| Will TaeKwonDo increase my child's aggressiveness? |
Throughout their training students are reminded that being physically and mentally tough doesn't allow one to be tough with others. Instead, TaeKwonDo students are expected to be humble, courteous, respectful and careful about when and where they practice their skills. The instructors at Master Kim's continuously remind students that TaeKwonDo is a form of exercise and self improvement not a tool for bullying. |
| Is it safe to learn? |
TaeKwonDo is safe and fun for students of all ages and physical abilities. Classes are supervised by expert instructors. All students are taught techniques in a step by step manner and at their own pace. Separating classes by belt levels, a thorough stretching routine, matted flooring and the use of protective safety equipment are all part of our commitment to ensuring student safety. |
| How often do students attend classes and how flexible is the schedule? |
In order to attain benefits and progress at a reasonable rate we recommend that students attend two times per week. Adults may attend up to three classes per week. Our three convenient locations and full time staff allow us to offer an extremely flexible schedule. Classes for all levels and ages are held several times a week and students are able to choose the classes that work out best for them. |

Of course the most important element in learning martial arts is the quality of instruction. At our Institute's, we pride ourselves on our "World Class" staff. Our team is comprised of professional Black Belt instructors. Our staff includes state and national champions, each location also has its own Master instructor. | How long does it take to become a Black Belt? |
The Black Belt in TaeKwonDo is symbolic of an advanced level of skill as well as above average physical, mental and emotional strength. The length of study necessary to attain a Black Belt varies depending on one's effort and dedication. On average, our students train for a period of three years to attain Black Belt status. |
| How long does it take to start seeing results? |
Studying TaeKwonDo has lifelong benefits and is designed to be a lifelong study. However, initial benefits start appearing after a few months of consistent practice. Children begin to show improved listening, confidence and self discipline. Adults gain more energy and feel healthier. Over time, the benefits become even more apparent and dramatic.
